Safe Harbor allows animals to roam around and enjoy their lives, they let people play with them and show them love. I've never seen any other shelter do that. Love it there!
say, they will never hear from me again nor receive any monetary donations!
I had some cat trees a sissal stratching post (all in good condition)

In response to Ann, I feel as though her review of Safe Harbor is incredibly unfair. This facility does more for the stray and unwanted animals in the SE Missouri area than any other facility. She obviously has no idea of what goes on at this shelter and how very busy and overwhelmed the very few volunteers are. There are over 250 cats and 15-20 dogs onsite at any given time. Often Alice is the only one there to care for them. As you can imagine this would be a challenge that often requires an exhausting 10-12 hour work day. Having to answer phones and problem solve for every person that calls the sanctuary wanting to bring in an animal is at times too much for the volunteers who already spend their whole day taking care the animals Safe Harbor houses already. This spring the sanctuary had so many kittens that had to be bottle fed Alice and several other volunteers took home kittens every night for months, feeding them every few hours throughout the night to give them a chance at life. They are heroes in the animal rescue world, and have dedicated their life to this cause. The facility deserves donations and deserves to have people willingly volunteering their time there. Because this is a No Kill facility they often do not have room for any other animals. If more people would volunteer their time or donate maybe they could take on more, but as it is it is a challenge to care for the hundreds they already do. So instead of bashing such an asset to our community I would challenge people to see what they can do to assist in this problem.
them in - I told them I had no way to bring them since I did not have a SUV
meantime, I found some cat beds, cat food (my cat does not like),
and contacted Safe harbor - they seemed to want them and told me to bring
automatic waterers, towels, nail clippers and some nice cat figurines
Wonderful place. They really care for the animals
for their thrift shop, etc. I have never heard from them . Needless to
Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary has been under a new director and reopened since January 2016. They are new and improved. It was rocky at first due to being a new group of people and getting the flow of things but we are better than ever. Come check us out. We could use more volunteers, there is alot of help needed. It takes one person just to man the phone. Running an animal Sanctuary is time consuming and is not an easy task. The good that comes from it outweighs the bad by a long shot. This is purely a volunteer based, no-kill, non profit organization that is improving and saving the lives of homeless animals in need.
